Guide Arm Akash Sandhu
As mentioned last week, I had completed all of the manufacturing last week; however, there was a little bit of a mounting issue. Nevertheless, I was able to mount finish the mounting for all of the arms Tuesday. On Wednesday, professor Furman conducted a prototype evaluation. Furthermore, the team and I went to Alumni night, which helped be more prepared for questions I might be asked during my final presentation. It was also a great opportunity to showcase my design. I also focused on the final presentation on Friday (5/10).

Week of 5/1/2019
Akash Sandhu 5/1/2019
The goal of this week was to have all manufacturing completed for all three of the guide arms and to test fit the guide arms onto the bogies. All of the guide arms assemblies are completed. I attempted to test fit the slave bogie guide arm and was faced with some small aligning problems. However, I have solve the problem and have successfully attached one of the guide arms to the slave bogie. The other slave bogie is also ready to be attached to the slave bogie. The drive bogie guide arm is complete, but the interaction team did not have ready as of early Friday morning for me to attach my arm. There should be no problems with the drive bogie as long as the physical bogie matches the CAD model.
I have also weighed the arms, they are well below the 15 kg limit.

Week 4/24/2019

I have found a welding shop that gave a cheaper quote ($250) compared to the initial quote by Nam's Welding. He has already tack welded half my parts and the plan is to finish the rest of the welding on Friday. I have provided the images below. Furthermore, I aim to be test fitting my parts to the slave bogie.

Guide Arm
I have prepped all of my parts for welding. I was having trouble getting welding done at central shop and getting access to MIG welder. I have gotten one spring-wheel assembly welded for free, but that person is not willing to do anymore. I have got another lead (Quiet Horsepower) local to me in Newark willing to weld the rest of the parts and the quote is $250. I should have my parts complete by this upcoming Friday (4/26).

Week of 4/10/2019
Week of 4/10/2019
This week the focus was on both the presentation and manufacturing of components for the guide arms. I have passed the safety quiz for room 123 which gives me access to central shop. I have finished cutting the slot runner tabs and milled down the spacers. Also, I had my MIG welding training on Friday where I had my teammates join me also. However, I was not as proficient at welding as I hoped I would be. I am currently investigating alternative solutions. I have also cut the square tubing needed for the drive arm.
The goal for next week is to cut out spring holder tabs, and square tubing for both the slave bogie guide arms. Additionally, the goal is to have all my parts prepared for welding (cleaning the rust of the components). Furthermore, I plan to start welding this week

I have passed my the MakerSpace Safety Quiz, and Dr. Furman helped with machining my tabs. Over the spring break, I only had access to the Superway mill and lathe for one day because Makerspace was closed, so we were only allowed inside with an adviser or Daniel (member of wayside). I was able to lathe down the radius of a steel rod and then use a horizontal saw to cut to size. Also over the break, I dropped off material for water jet cutting at the Central shop and got it back. I also got the material back over the break; I have done an inventory of the parts. Also I have completed the MakerSpace welding module; however, I went to take the quiz and there is no question inside of it. I have also been preparing material for the second presentation. Going forward, the priorty is to gain access to welding as soon as possible, hopefully by end of this week. Otherwise there can be a delay in manufacturing.

Week of 3/20/2019
Previously, for the drive bogie guide arm, the location of the mounting onto the drive bogie was confirmed. However, this week I added holes on the integration teams design helping to INTEGRATE the guide arm to the drive bogie. This week essay 2 is due, so I am working to finish of the assignment for this week.
